Well let me back step one second.
A potential client asked me the other day if I have any feedback for her current website, so I opened it up and well it was pretty dated visually which told her doesn’t represent her brand to well – She really wants a cutting edge feel. And hey if you have a dated looking site, how cutting edge can you be.
But what really made give her a solid chunk of feedback was her “Blog” called latest news.
Clicked on the blog link interested to see what she shares with her market place and take a guess how many blogs where on there.
And that was from 2013.
And a welcome to our blog post, and that was it!
Agh, seriously, that’s a great way to engage your clients, heck some may even see it that you may no longer be in business. I know that seems extreme, but think about it, if that is your latest news and it was 3 years ago, what does that say?
So I gave her some constructive feedback. TAKE DOWN THE BLOG…
That was the first tip, and if that is all she did, it is a positive step.
Now I know writing posts can be a time consuming thing and when you are running a busy salon or spa sometimes squeezing in the time is near impossible. But there are options either simply do not have a blog (latest news), have someone from your team write it or hire a company to write them for you.
They don’t have to be super complex, can be:
● Client before and afters
● Client stories
● Product features
● Staff stories
● Holiday stories
Whatever, sometimes going personal is also great as it builds that sense of connection and rapport.
But the key is…
Keep it fresh.
Do not have something from years ago sitting there with nothing else, it’s such a bad look. Kinda like showcasing hairstyles from the 80’s on the wall of your salon!
Not quite that bad, but nearly.
So do you need a blog?
No, you are better of not having one if you are never going to put anything on there.
But THEY ARE GOOD to have.
Well, some potential clients may want to read what is happening in your biz, but there is another good reason.
GOOGLE and search engines love them.
Adding relevant fresh content to your website is a great way to help increase your search engine rankings, which can result in…
Which is the goal of most businesses.
Right? I’m sure we’d all like an extra 20-30 people through your salon or spa each month.
Anyway that’s enough for today, so I encourage you to go to your website and take a look and see if you do have a blog, what’s on it and if its not current take some action to get it current or take it of the menu of your website.
If you need a hand with any of that, we’d be happy to help with any of that, just reach out to us via email via the contact form on our site.
